“We had 13 applications in the first round of funding from a diverse cross section of community groups,” Committee member, Lesley Smith said.
“The six successful applicants stood out and the Committee was in full agreement on the awarding of the grants. We are looking forward to receiving applications for the second round which will open later this year.”
The successful applicants were:
* Bibbenluke Hall and Sports Ground Committee for a portable water storage system to improve water supply into the amenities at the Hall ($3,520).
* Bombala and District Historical Society Ltd for storage covers for Bombala newspapers 1876-1985 ($4,875).
* Parish of the Southern Monaro for upgrade of St. Matthias’ Parish hall facilities ($15,000).
* Monaro Family Support Services for Scallywaggs Activity Group recreational activities ($2,000).
* Friends of Bombala Railway for weed spraying equipment ($4,830).
* Monaro Country Lavender Co Op Ltd for equipment to maintain the Railway Precinct ($1,257).
* Bungarby Memorial Hall for static display of early history of the Bungarby district, the hall and WWI soldiers. ($1,455).
The Boco Rock Community grants program will help to drive community development for many years to come. This first round of funding has seen in total some $32,937 awarded to diverse community projects.
A similar amount will be available in the second round of funding which opens in September of this year, so community groups get your thinking caps on!
