Fire & Rescue NSW is sending out a two page flyer which introduces the crew of the Bombala Fire Station, encouraging locals to come and meet them in person and have a chat about joining the team.
A recruitment drive set to start in August will see information available at the station on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 7.30pm.
Those who come along can have a chat with the crew about their work in the community and how they can assist new recruits in becoming an on-call part time fire fighter with Fire & Rescue NSW.
The flyer lists the kinds of call outs that the local crew attends, including fires, rescues and hazard condition calls, and details the payment that firefighters receive.
It also goes on to explain what it takes to become a Retained Firefighter, including reasonable fitness and health and a driver’s licence, while all training is provided.
Fire & Rescue NSW is particularly keen to employ men and women who have some daytime availability, and it would be great for our local team to have more female firefighters on board.
If you’d like to find out more before the flyer hits local mailboxes, simply check out www.fire.nsw.gov.au or contact Rebecca O’Brien at the FRNSW Regional South 1 Zone Office on 4472 3042.
