Under 10s -
It was a little chilly and a fog loomed but it did not stop the Under 10s coming out fast and putting up a strong attack early in the game. There was plenty of ball movement and all the players managed to have a run with the ball.
The defence was outstanding and made it very difficult for the Pambula Bulldogs to score. With the only way to the line being around the Heelers they could not go through, the defence was too strong.
The second half of the game the Bulldogs warmed up and caused a huge swing in the game, making plenty of ground up quickly. Pambula put extra pressure on the Blue Heelers with their defence which caused a couple of high tackles giving the Bulldogs a few easy runs and made up ground.
However at the end of the day the Bombala boys found something extra in the tank and played until the final whistle, scoring a great try to draw the match, and making the kick to win with a conversion.
Fletcher Manning was this week’s Milo Man of The Match. Fletcher has been improving every game this year becoming more and more comfortable in his position in the team.
Under 8s -
The Under 8s were not as lucky as the Under 10s. At this stage this little team just does not have as much experience on the field the as the Pambula Bulldogs, who came prepared to win.
The Bulldogs are a very well trained and committed team. They are really good at supporting each other and are extremely enthusiastic in their defence. Having these strengths made it impossible for our local Under 8s to find a weakness, the going was very tough for the Blue Heelers.
However to their credit the whole Under 8s Blue Heelers team held it together and never gave up with good defence and attack.
Not a victory this week but still a great effort with Xander Paynter taking out this week’s Milo Man of the Match for his all-round hard work and continuous improvement during the year.
Under 7s -
The Under 7s never let the spectators down. Joey Sullivan took charge early and made a dashing run down the sideline to score, only to get it disallowed by the linesman. Joey did not let this dampen his spirits, he kept the pressure on the opposition for the whole game he is becoming more confident each week.
Joey is not alone there was some great defence all round with Ruby Smith, Torin Hillyer, Josh Tellis and Gracie Brownlie all getting down dirty and pulling off some big tackles.
Ruby Smith once again showed her speed and her mighty left hand fend to score a great try. Torin Hillyer also crossed the line to score with his usual finesse .Even though it took a little bit for Josh Tellis to warm up, when he did he scored two great individual trys.
Cody Bruce is also one to watch building on his confidence in each game making some very solid tackles in play.
It was very hard to pick but this week’s Milo Man of the Match goes to Jakeb Gay showing great defence and attack all day, and always there putting his hand up to take the ball up. Well done team.
Thank you once again to local sponsors FoodWorks Bombala and Rocky’s Tractor Hire of Bombala for the Milo Man of The Match.
Next week all teams play away in Bega, but will be sure to report home with some good results.
