The High Heelers were straight to business with a try through the Bega defence on their line to Keiarna Rodwell (sponsored by Rodwell Haulage and Plant Hire) assisted by Maree Coates, who then kicked the conversion to open the score at 6-0.
Bega attacked well and were able to get the ball wide for Olivia Dummett to sneak in for a try in the corner.
The High Heelers needed a pep talk to boost their energy to put it to the Bega Chicks and Maree Coates responded well, unlucky not to score her own try which was disallowed after ref and linesman discussion ruling no try for diving across the line.
Great defence by Chloe Hodak, Keiarna Rodwell, May Peck, Emma Sullivan and Sue Morgan saw the High Heelers get to half time in front 6-4.
The second half began with an error early to put the Heelers on their heels. More hard defence by players Kayley Keavey, Trina Brownlie, Lucy Sellers and Abbey Ingram held the chicks back.
Another set up by Maree Coates (sponsored by Dommo's Shearing) and a classy show and go by Keiarna Rodwell got her over the line out wide. With the conversion unsuccessful the Heelers led 10-4.
Some hard hitting runs by Monique Ingram, Jane Peadon and Amy Stone pushed the High Heelers into some good position. The Bega Chicks got the ball back close to their line, to have hard running Bronty Burhop shimmy through the High Heelers' defence to put the score to 10-8. Joccoaa Rogers converted the try to tie up the score at 10-10.
With continued efforts by the High Heelers to get back in front, it wasn't to be, not even a 40/20 by Maree Coates could help put more points on the board. The score remained a 10-all draw.
Players Players and 3 points went to Keiarna Rodwell for her dominating line runs and ever so reliable tagging, 2 points to Chloe Hodak (sponsored by Lou Lous) for her solid defence and 1 point to Monique Ingram (sponsored by Fortitude Physiotherapy) for great line running.
Thanks to the League-safe runners Logan Brownlie and Mick Sullivan for their support on the field.
First Grade
The first grade Blue Heelers had a tough battle on their hands with the Bega Roosters breaking the line early in the game, putting together some domineering runs and skilful ball passing. A credit to the Blue Heelers in chasing every ball and muscling up against the Bega Roosters.
Consistent tackling by Jack Rankin, Paul Perkins and fullback Daniel Douch saw the Roosters held out of their end for about 10 mins or so. Purposeful runs by Jackson Standen, Murray Jackson, Chris Anderson and Joe Bobbin gave the Heelers a Boost. Hooker Paul Perkins was unlucky to be held out late in the first half.
The half time score was not what the Blue Heelers needed but credit to the boys for not dropping their heads.
In the second half the Bega Roosters continued to put points on the Blue Heelers until finally, Captain Joe Bobbin (sponsored by G.Moore Concreting) leading by example, was delivered a great ball by Clay Stewart to get the boys 4 points in this tough encounter.
The final score was a disappointing 74-4. Back to the drawing board for the Blue Heelers.
Players players went to Jack Rankin, 3 points to Daniel Douch (sponsored by Optus Bega), 2 points to Jackson Standen (sponsored by J&A Murdoch) and 1 point to Matt Stone (sponsored by Summerills Ridgeline Clothing Cathcart).

This weekend the Blue Heelers play Batemans Bay in Bombala. This should be a great hit out with the Blue Heelers having beaten the Bay earlier in the draw. The High Heelers have a bye as the Bay don't have a League Tag side.
Thanks to the Blue Heelers major sponsor, the Bombala RSL, everyone is welcome to join the players and committee back at the club, to hear all about the game stats after this weekend’s game. See you all there.
