Ongoing frosts have ensured burst water pipes and frozen windscreens have become all too familiar around Bombala, not to mention the temptation of staying in bed just a little longer on frosty mornings!
Monday this week was a great example, with temperatures plummeting to -8.4° on Monday morning, which the Bureau of Meteorology tells us “felt like” an apparent -11.3°.
And on Sunday a big frost was followed up with a heavy blanket of fog, which saw Bombala shivering away until well into the afternoon. In fact, Sunday only managed to climb to a top of 6° all day, and we were still in the minuses up until 11am.
While we’re certainly not going to be frost-free for the rest of the week, we have a bit of respite at the moment, and when the frosts return on Friday and over the weekend, they are only forecast to reach -2° and -3°. Given the bumpers we’ve had, that’s nothing!
