Although the small and much loved school has not been formally closed, it currently has no enrollments, and will likely be placed into what is known as recess.
The Department of Education has given the following statement -
“There are currently no students at Bibbenluke Public School and no prospects of students for the school for at least the next two years.
Parents of the last students to attend the school made the decision for their children to attend another local school for their own personal reasons and not as a result of any decision by the NSW Department of Education and Communities about the future of the school.
A meeting held two weeks ago for interested community members to discuss the future of the school failed to generate any community attendees.
The Department has not made any final decisions about the future of Bibbenluke Public School at this stage.”
The Bombala Times will keep the community informed of any developments.
