The Christmas in July function was enjoyed by around 55 members of the business community on July 18, with the successful evening illustrating just how vibrant the local network really is.
Charlie Maslin was an enlightening guest speaker, first outlining the history and management of the ‘Gunningrah’ property that has been in his family for three generations, and then detailing how the business has been diversified over the years.
Beyond this Charlie shared his ideas on how to attract more visitors to Bombala, speaking on everything from our need for a Facebook presence, to improving our signage further out of town to encourage travellers to stop.
There were also thoughts on improvements within the township itself, focusing on businesses working together to share ideas and make the most of their individual strengths.
The address continued to touch on numerous other ideas, including making the most of our beautiful river, building more conveniently located public toilets and visitor facilities, adopting a theme for the main street, hosting events elsewhere in town and seeing the potential amalgamation of the council as an opportunity.
Charlie’s clear enthusiasm for increasing the area’s vitality and building the local economy influenced the tone of the entire evening, and glowing feedback was received for the Chamber of Commerce event.
