Secret Men’s Business is in fact the name of the men’s group that has been formed at the hostel, with the fellas getting together every second Tuesday to enjoy some bloke time - and the whole male community is welcome to join them.
The group alternates between going out and staying in, with monthly excursions seeing them head out for meals or to visit interesting locations nearby.
The upcoming excursion will see the men enjoy a trip to Nimmitabel for morning tea before travelling back to Bombala via the Boco Rock Wind Farm, and then finishing up with lunch at the RSL Club.
And staying in is proving just as fun! Last Tuesday, July 28, was a great example, with the fellas from the local Men’s Shed getting in on the Secret Men’s Business gathering at Currawarna.
They enjoyed a fantastic barbecue lunch and got stuck into everything from playing pool, shuffleboard and darts, to enjoying guest speaker, Jak Cuttle’s reflection on his Navy days.
And more guest speakers are sought after for the men’s gatherings, so if you have something of broad interest to share, please get in touch!
Secret Men’s Business is a great way for the male residents of Currawarna to soak up the company of other men, and to enjoy some social time outside of the hostel. And its’ great for the men from the wider community to come and get to know them as well!
Additionally, any men who are currently being cared for at home by their loved ones are very welcome to join the group for the day, allowing them a change of scene and company, and giving their carers a little informal respite as well.
Secret Men’s Business is proving a hit so far, and it is hoped that as many men as possible will join the group every second Tuesday to ensure it continues to benefit the men of Currawarna and the wider community. To find out more and to get involved please contact Karen on 6458 3457.
