It’s not long now until Bombala’s Relay for Life kicks off at Bombala Showground on Saturday, November 28 and it will be held in conjunction with Bombala’s Carol by Candlelight.

Bombala has 16 teams registered to take part in the 24 hour Relay for Life fundraiser for the Cancer Council.
The day starts at 9am with the opening ceremony and will be followed at 10am with a carers, sufferers and survivors honorary lap of the showground before a special morning team for them is served.
“We are encouraging all those people battling cancer, those who have survived cancer and their carers to join in the honourary lap,” Relay for Life organiser Billie Peisley said.
Bombala has 16 teams entered in the Relay for Life with organisers hoping to raise $15,000 on the day, however they have already raised more than $30,000 and are still hoping to exceed that amount.
The Relay for Life event will also incorporate Bombala’s Carols by Candlelight which starts at 7pm with the Bombala Rotary and Community Choir leading the singing.
There will be an interval during carols when Santa will visit and the Relay for Life organisers will hold a small ceremony.
The day will have something for everyone with a jumping castle and facepainting for the youngsters, live entertainment by local artists, plenty of food stalls, fitness demonstrations, raffles and a special visit by Melanoma Man.
Melanoma Man is seven years free of stage three melanoma who travels around sharing his story of battling the deadly cancer.
Organisers of the Relay for Life event are encouraging the community to call in for a visit.
“It doesn’t have to be all day,” Ms Peisley said.
“Just pop in and lend your support, perhaps do a lap of the showground and help contribute to the fundraising for the Cancer Council's continued research into cancer,” she said.
Glow in the dark items and tealight candles will also be on sale for Carols by Candlelight.
