New addition for the Cathcart Hall

LAST Saturday night the Cathcart community got together for a good old-fashion Cathcart casserole night to celebrate the completion of the newest addition to the hall - a large covered outdoor area.

The structure itself cost approximately $2,600 and was funded through the many functions catered for by the community, as well some generous donations of time, labour, machinery and cash.

The community would like to thank anyone who helped in anyway with the construction, but particular mention should be made of a few people for their ongoing help and support.

These include Jim and Barry Manning for their large and extremely generous cash donation from their brother Bobby’s estate, which the community will be pleased to acknowledge with a plaque in his memory in the near future at the hall; Russel Carey for the use of his machinery and his many hours of labour; Ron Milliner for the donation of gravel; Grantley, Greg and Ovi from Bombala Council for the time and expertise they gave to the project to make sure that the whole process went smoothly and was carried out to the highest of standards; Daryl Dobson and his crew for the expedient construction; and the Cathcart locals who spent time and effort to ensure that the area was properly prepared and ready for the awning to go up quickly.

We would also like to thank the Podger family members for their donations, particularly the canvas walls to enclose the area when necessary.

The community will make a great deal of use of this area for many and various functions, the first of which will be a wedding in the next few weeks.

It will certainly be a great asset to the hall and district.
