When the John Holland company took over the assets of the state railway system from ARTC, the beams of the footbridge structure were assessed and it was found they needed replacing.
The footbridge has been closed since mid-year, but work has now commenced on the rebuild, with a budget of $100,000 being allocated to bringing the structure back up to its original, functional state.
The footbridge is a heritage structure that is now unique, and the community is surely looking forward to it being returned to its former glory.
This is particularly the case for all of those who regularly used the footbridge, which was very well utilised by those on foot or bicycle.
