IT was just a couple of weeks ago that we printed an article on strong winds in the area, but last week’s weather was just as notable!
Again many trees were damaged and roads partially blocked following the high winds of late last week, with Friday in particular bringing severe weather warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology.
While wind speeds hovered around 80km/h, the strong gusts reached 110km/h at times, ripping branches from trees and preventing many travellers from using tree lined roads such as the highway to Cann River.
While we weren’t as unlucky as the Bredbo Hotel, which lost part of its roof in the wild weather, the wind still damaged some structures, and blew down part of a new wall at the Tasco mill site.
