Southern Cross Care CEO, Paul McMahan joined John Adamson, Karen Brownlie and Joyce Cotterill for the opening of the newly refurbished Norfolk Wing last Thursday.
THE Currawarna community was very pleased to welcome a large crowd of family, friends and other special guests to the official opening of the newly refurbished Norfolk Wing last Thursday.
The group gathered in the spacious new recreation area of the wing for the opening, with the Currawarna Manage-ment Committee’s John Adamson opening proceedings.
Mr Adamson welcomed everyone on behalf of the committee and thanked the Southern Cross Board of Management for their support and willingness to improve Currawarna.
Here he referred to both the construction of the Wollemi and Cypress Wings as Stage 1 of the overall project, as well as the upgrade of the old building, now the Norfolk Wing, that represents Stage 2.
Southern Cross Care CEO Paul McMahan then spoke not only on the recent improvements, but also of the dedication of the past board and the current Management Committee.
Mr McMahan also thanked the staff and community for their patience during the building stages, and reinforced that even though the building is now so lovely, it is the caring staff that have made Currawarna what it is today.
Following these words, Joyce Cotterill, a long-time supporter of Currawarna both herself and through her late husband, John, was asked to cut the ribbon to formally open the new wing.
Mrs Cotterill was also presented with a plaque dedicating the Norfolk Wing to past and present board and staff members, and all shared in a pleasant morning tea to commemorate the opening.
