This covered anyone who started at Bombala Central School in 1969, which was Year 1 in those days (Year 7 now) and finished in 1974, which was Year 6 then (or Year 12 these days).
Back then, most people considered Year 10 an acceptable time to leave school and as such, the bulk of the class left in 1972.
This reunion was the first time this class has come together. It’s been 40 years! As you can imagine there was a lot of catching up to do.
The organisers were most impressed with the distance some of the class members travelled to attend, with four classmates coming all the way from Western Australia, a few from Queensland, several from Victoria and almost everywhere else in between.
The group got together on the Saturday night with a top meal cooked by Jono, and a social gathering at the RSL Club where everyone had a great time with classmates and their partners.
Then there was a tour of the high school the next morning and everyone finished up with a recovery brunch Sunday morning.
It was wonderful to catch up and everyone had a top time. It was suggested to do it again in another 40 years (good luck with that!) but perhaps another five or ten years would be better.
