Some of the ladies attended the wonderful International Women’s Day activities at Delegate.
Each year Bombala Council recognises International Women’s Day with an event held at the Delegate School of Arts.
The occasion acknowledges the work of the women of Platypus Country via the International Women’s Day Awards which are presented on the day.
It was a delightful day of catching up with friends and celebrating the contributions of women in our community and all over the world.
The following week a beautiful brunch at the Heritage Café was organised.
As it was the day before St Patrick’s Day the theme of the day featured all things Irish with shamrocks and leprechauns decorating the table.
It was off to Currawarna the next week for a session of Easter craft.
There the group assembled 60 little bags of Easter treats for the residents of Currawarna and both of the local hospitals.
Former Contact Group volunteer Sam Dyer made a quick visit during the session.
He was congratulated on receiving the Australia Day Junior Citizen of the Year Award.
All those there on the day had benefited in some way from Sam’s generosity with his time and technology talents and were pleased that he was recognised for his volunteer work.
The Contact Group also hosted the community screening of the Young at Heart Short Film Festival during the last week of March.
One of the many activities celebrating NSW Seniors Week, it was a nice relaxing session at the community centre at the end of busy month of outings.
Coming up for the Contact Group is the Biggest Morning Tea at the Community Centre on Wednesday, May 18 with the theme of the ‘Mad Hatter Morning Tea. It will be held in conjunction with the Wiggly Wippersnappers whose theme for the whole morning will be the Mad Hatter’s Morning Tea Party.
