We sincerely trust that the government will take notice of community sentiment in making these decisions.
We also hope that the decisions will be made sooner rather than later as it is very difficult making plans for the community when you don’t know the future of the council area.
Last week council held a workshop to review the draft Operational and Budget for 2016-17. Minor changes will now be made to these documents prior to council holding an Extraordinary Council meeting on Wednesday, May 11 to approve them for public exhibition.
Over the last few weeks Council has received a number of compliments on how well the area is maintained, the wonderful autumn colours of the European trees and also the antics of the platypus. This is all thanks to the outside work crews.
The parks and garden crews have been keeping the area neat and well looked after. Fine weather has enabled the road crews to stay well on top of maintenance and capital works.
Over the next few weeks crews will be sealing Church and Craigie Streets in Delegate, resealing Mila Road and undertaking gravel patching and grading of Gunningrah Road.
The contract for the replacement of the roof at the Cathcart School of Arts has been awarded and kitchen plans are being finalised in consultation with the community.
Work is anticipated to start at the end of May on the re-roofing of the Delegate Exhibition Hall with plans for the new kitchen being finalised.
Work will also start on the new amenities block at Bill Jeffrey’s Park with plans for a new undercover area close to being finished.
Once things have quietened down at Bombala Caravan Park, council will undertake the re-tiling of the amenities block.
