Louise Wright Coach

Not unlike the U7s the U8s stood strong against the cold conditions and it did not dampen the team's spirit as they all put in a 100 per cent to record their first victory of the season. Once again the girls stood up with Ruby Smith, Gracie Brownlie, Zara Brotherton and Tanner Hurley working tirelessly on attack and defence all game. Freddy Merrit also put a big game in with the most hit ups, close behind him Ari Sten, who was involved in the action all game and was unlucky not to get a couple of tries. When it comes to finding the try line, it comes as no surprise that Josh Tellis scored four great tries with his great footwork and speed. Liam Strickland also put his hand for some great hit ups, getting more involved each game. The Milo Player of the Match went to Jake Brownlie, over the last few weeks this boy has always put his hand up and made some big meters and huge hits. Jake was rewarded with a try for his efforts this game. Congratulations guys and gals and was good to see all your hard work has paid off celebrating the first victory of the season.

Rolly Skellern Coach

Each week the U9s improve on the last. The U9s started their Saturday with a warm up game against each other in really ordinary conditions. The teams are great to watch, even in the bad weather their smiles were plain to see. The scheduled game was Tathra who showed up a little short on numbers not surprising considering the weather. However Blue Heelers U9s were more than happy to fill the gaps and even made big contributions to the Tathra team play. Well done to Wyatt Jones who with hesitation volunteered to play the whole game for Tathra. It is great to watch this young team getting better each week. All players have worked hard to improve themselves but most importantly improve as a team. It is hard to single out players to mention because of the effort although if there were two they would be Arlan Hillyer and Tate McIntosh for their strong attack with some very good tries. These guys beat plenty of defenders. Tathra attack found it hard to score points with some good defence from the 9s, especially if they ran anywhere near Xander Paynter. Xander had a very strong all round game with some good runs and off­loads. The Milo Player of the Match this week went to “Magic Man” Dillion Simpson for his huge effort and enthusiasm week in week out. It was a really strong effort once again from the team and a well deserved win . Well done U9s Blue Heelers.

Coach Drew Manning

The U12s had one of their best games of the season this on Saturday. Like all the teams maybe it was the motivation of keeping warm by running but whatever it was it worked. The team had strong defence from Zayne Phillips ­Jones and Beau and Colby Brownlie. The U12s forwards all made plenty of metres up through the middle of the field led by Will Garnock and Max Smith,  this play was a huge contribution to the overall result. The team welcomed in Jack Ventry for his first game of the season and Jack held up his end of the deal delivering an excellent game with some strong runs. Jack Stevenson really stepped up this week scoring a sensational individual try running 50m to score near the posts. Jayden Clear made it pay when he was successful with the conversion. Unbelievable U12s huge improvement. This week’s points were awarded as 3 points Jayden Clear, 2 Jack Ventry and 1 Will Garnock was a much improved U12s this week.

Coach Damien Smith

Victory again to the U14 boys at home on a very chilly afternoon. With the support of the local spectators and first grade role models, our boys played an outstanding match. Their line defence was solid, they showed confidence in their ability to spread the ball to the outside backs, their communication did not waiver and their support play was relentless. Needless to say boys, you have set the benchmark. Each and every boy played well, but I'd like to make special mention to a few who have really stepped up and taken on the advice given. Blake Brownlie and Connor Sten had outstanding defensive games, as did Jasper Bruce and Baidon Sten. While, Rowan Keavey made himself available in attack at every opportunity and Russell Jamieson is showing improvement each week. Both Coby Robinson and Jack Cuzner managed to get over the line, but unfortunately their tries were disallowed. Bad luck guys. The try scorers along with their efforts, Jack Merritt who used all of his strength to bump his way over the line. Bryson Phillips Jones who supported well and ran 50m to score his fantastic try. Lane Stevenson displayed just what he is capable of with his blistering pace and his never give up attitude, forced his way over the line for a well-­deserved try. And... the tenacious and dynamic captain Reagan Hurley with his flashy show and go and fancy footwork nailed himself two awesome tries. Baidon Sten and Bryson Phillips ­Jones both converted one goal each bringing the final score 24 ­10. Three points and Players Player went to Reagan Hurley who was top defensive player and displayed great leadership. Two points went to Bryson Phillips Jones for top attack player. One point went to Blake Baldwin for outstanding defence and unstoppable runs. Fantastic effort guys, we couldn't be more proud.  Milo Player of the Match sponsored by Southern Highland Contracting and Foodworks.
