The Bombala Rugby League senior grades headed to Batemans Bay on Sunday for what proved to be an exciting day of football in round 8 of the Group 16 competition.

The Bombala High Heelers ladies tag team were first up scoring early points. Tash Stewart scored first, followed not long after by Patrice Clear with ties being converted by Kayley Keavey. Other try scorers were Lucy Sellers, Janine Jamieson and Kayley Keavey. At halftime the High Heelers led by a comfortable 24-0.
After halftime Kristy Nichols, Abbey Kimber and Katrina Brownlie scored and Bombala defeated the Bay 36 to 0. Players player and 3 points went to Abbey Kimber, 2 points went to Georgie Clarke and one point was shared between Patrice Clear and Kayley Keavey.
The Reserve Grade Heelers led by captain coach Clay Stewart had a great game against the Bay with the halftime score Bombala 12 to 4. Two players from the bay were sin binned for unsportsmanlike behaviour which led to the Heelers putting more points on the board. The final score Bombala 30, Batemans Bay 4.
Players Player and three points went to Raymond Kading, 2 points went to Kitt Bryce and 1 point went to Mick Sullivan.
The first grade Heelers took to the field with key players out to injury and kicked off in what was going to be an exciting game of rugby league. Tyler Jones running from dummy half put the first points on the board. Bombala were relentless but Batemans Bay scored again just before half time, the score was 14-10 in the Heelers favour.
After halftime the Bay took the field and it wasn’t long before they ran in a few unanswered tries blowing the score out to 14-26. The Heelers would score again to level things up 26-26 but the Bay struck back and the score was 32-26. Paul Perkins was instrumental in directing a well-executed set play and the Heelers Saimoni would score out wide. With the full time siren sounding, the fate of the game lay with Tuwame’s conversion attempt from out wide which was successful locking the final score at a draw, 32-32.
Three points went to Chris Anderson, 2 points went to Malcolm Stone and 1 point was shared between Saimoni and Andrew Guthrie.
