An anonymous collector fell in love with Deborah Redwood’s structure on Cottesloe Beach, which was chosen from hundreds of entries from around the world for the annual March exhibition.
Redwood told fans in her newsletter the sale was a relief as the return freight was expensive and she had no space to house it.
The artist uses more recycled materials for her next exhibition at the Beach Art gallery in Bulli.
The group showing, of around 25 to 30 works, brings together a group from the Illawarra Association for the Visual Arts.
The exhibition will run for the month of July, with the opening night Friday July 9.
