Mr Stewart also accepted an invitation to become the official patron of the Borderline Gallery.
President of the Delegate Progress Association, Penelope Judge thanked him for his support and encouragement of the gallery.
“The Delegate Progress Association is honoured that Mr Stewart has accepted the position,” she said.
Mrs Judge then presented Mr Stewart with a certificate in recognition of him becoming the official patron.
“We also presented him with a beautiful painting by local artist Nola Wright as a token of appreciation for everything he has done for the Delegate community and Progress Association,” she said.
Council’s Economic Development and Tourism manager, Karen Cash announced that the $100,000 grant offered to the development of the Bundian Way by the former Bombala Council would be honoured by the newly formed Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
Overseeing that project is council’s Local Representative Committee member for Cooma, Craig Mitchell who attended the opening.
“The Bundian Way Gallery exhibition entitled ‘Daraga Bulwul Wanngaan’ meaning Strong Black Women displayed beautiful paintings that were a kaleidoscope of colour along with jewellery and greeting cards,” Mrs Judge said.
“There was also a small display by the Sistas Speak Group from Narooma High School.
“The Borderline Gallery was themed with winter paintings and also had on display ironwork, wood works, ceramics, pottery and textiles,” she said.
The two exhibitions at the Delegate galleries will remain on display until mid September when they will change again.
The next exhibition at the Bundian Way Gallery will theme an exhibition by young artists along with a travelling exhibition.
