Snowy Monaro Regional Council Local Representative Committee (LRC) chair, Steve Goodyer awarded the third round of funding under the Boco Rock Community Fund Grant Program to representatives of the recipients in the Bombala District at the Bombala Council offices on Monday.

“We have already seen from these grants a number of worthwhile community project undertaken through the grant scheme,” Mr Goodyer said.
“They have been diverse – everything from purchase of equipment to improving water quality in the Bibbenluke Hall, to resurfacing of the tennis courts at both Bombala and Delegate and they are much appreciated by local community groups,” he said.
The third round of funding was distributed to nine projects that include $20,000 funding to the Bombala and District Historic Engine Society for the construction of an additional shed to house restored engines.
“The construction of new facilities on the Railway Land will support the development of the tourism sector,” Mr Goodyer said.
The Delegate Sportsground Committee received $9,818 for the purchase of equipment to assist with maintenance of the community recreational/neighbourhood safer place facility.
The Creewah Bush Fire Brigade will be able to purchase a split cycle heater for the community meeting room which they received $1,975.
Mr Goodyer said that the purchase of equipment to support creative activities in turn encourages greater community involvement.
Bombala Golf Club was granted $7,408 to purchase maintenance equipment and the Bombala Netball Association received a grant of $12,685 to upgrade their facility.
The Delegate School of Arts and Progress Association both received grants with $5,500 to go towards an Indigenous Mural to be painted on the wall outside the Delegate museum and School of Arts Hall by Indigenous artist Natalie Bateman that will portray the Bundian Way and the link between the mountain and the sea.
“Enhancements to the Delegate School of Arts will help tell the inspiring story of the Bundian way which will lead to improved economic and social development of the area,” Mr Goodyer said.
The Delegate Progress Association will be able to install a kiln in the arts centre with their grant of $6,615.
“We are very grateful to Boco Rock for funding community projects,” president of the Delegate Progress Association, Penelope Judge said.
Also receiving grants were the Bombala and District Historical Society who were granted $5,357 for covers to protect old newspapers and the Bombala Exhibition Ground management committee received $4,040 for storm drainage works.
“In total the third round of funding will see a massive $73,398 flowing to our community groups to assist in completion of projects valued at $151,780,” Mr Goodyer said.
“Council is extemely pleased to see the benefits of the Boco Rock Wind Farm flowing to our local community and looks forward to working in partnership with CWP Renewables for many years to come,” he said.
