Directors Nathan Fay and Sean Vickery were given the the Variety International Corporate Award for fundraising more than $200,000 for the children’s charity.
“We’re proud to be the first builder in the country to partner with Variety in this way and support such a worthwhile cause,” said Mr Vickery.
In 2014 the builders chipped in with a local developer, local suppliers, tradespeople and Variety South Coast to build the G.J. Variety Freedom Home.
It’s auction resulted in over $200,000 going directly to help children in need.
Mr Vickey said their feat encouraged other GJ Gardner franchisees to do the same.
Variety CEO Tam Johnston said the award was only given to a handful of “worthy” businesses and they couldn’t go passed Mr Vickery and Mr Fay for all of their “incredible” support.
“The idea that was created in the Shoalhaven has resulted in the business [including franchisees in Sydney and Tamworth] raising over $435,000 for the charity in the past two years,” she said.
