On Sunday the sun was shining for the last home game for the Bombala District Blue Heelers for the 2016 season. And what a great successful day it was, with all three grades taking the win against Narooma.

First up the Bombala High Heelers ran onto the ground expecting a tough game against the Narooma She-Devils, the only team the women have lost to all year.
The first half proved to be a tough hit out with the High Heelers forced to remain patient in attack and rely heavily on defending their line.
A breakaway try to Bombala’s captain, Patrice Clear would see Bombala take the lead 6-0 at halftime. After halftime the She-Devils pounced on a dropped ball and scored, locking the score at 6 all. The High Heelers kept the pressure on for the rest of the game, eventually coming out winners 24-6.
Players Player and three points went to Patrice Clear, 2 points to Keiarna Rodwell and 1 point went to Janine Jamieson.
Reserve Grade were next to take to the field, but it was Narooma who would find the try line just five minutes in. Four minutes later Nic Rosten scored for Bombala and further tries by Jackson Standen and James Coates took the score to Bombala 16 Narooma 6.
Narooma scored again but at half time the Heelers were leading 26-12.
Minutes into the second half, Ben Mooney scored only to have Narooma slot in two six pointers taking the score to Bombala 30 Narooma 18 with 25 minutes left to play. At the final bell the Bombala Reserve Grade had cemented their place in the top four 36 to 18.
Players Player and 3 points went to Ben Mooney, 2 points to James Coates and 1 point to Jackson Standen.
The Blue Heelers first grade team welcomed the return of captain coach Joe Bobbin back from injury. Brett Hodak was first to score close to the posts but shortly after Narooma found space and scored – Bombala 6 Narooma 4. Ten minutes later Tyler Jones found space between defenders to streak away and score under the posts. This was followed by another try from Brett Hodak.
With the score 16-4 Bombala looked favourites but Narooma scored again and at half time the score was Bombala 16 Narooma 8. After halftime Paul Perkins scored, converted by Wame. Narooma scored again and the score was 22 to 14 with 30 minutes left on the clock.
Back to back penalties from Narooma led to Mitch Lynch scoring in the corner taking the score to 26-14. Narooma scored again and the crowd became nervous. Narooma capitalised on Bombala errors and scored again and it was Bombala 26 Narooma 24.
With 10 minutes of play to go, the combination of Paul Perkins and Brett Hodak saw Hodak score his hat trick for the day taking the score to 32-24, another win for Bombala.
Players Player went to Brett Hodak, 3 points to Paul Perkins, 2 points to Murray Jackson and 1 point was shared between Malcolm Stone and Craig Bottom.
