The scheduled construction of a footpath connecting Poplar Street and the Highdale Car Park is expected to continue into September.
“Work started on Jindabyne Road in June this year and was initially scheduled to take six weeks. Unfortunately, recent weather has pushed back its completion”, Snowy Monaro Regional Council general manager Joseph Vescio said.
The construction team has made some progress and, to date, have completed:
• The removal of 10 tree stumps left behind from the Poplar removal project;
• Placed about 100 lineal metres of concrete pipe for the stormwater; and
• Installed two (2) of the drainage kerbside entry pits.
“Council will continue to make every effort to minimise disruption to traffic along the main road and will only enforce lane restrictions when absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians, workforce and traffic”, Mr Vescio went on to explain.
Once this phase of the project is complete, Council will engage with the community, especially those residents living along Jindabyne Road, to discuss possible landscaping options as part of the ongoing implementation of the Berridale Landscape Master Plan.
Council appreciates your patience during this period and wish to emphasise that this project is for the long term benefit of the community.
