On Saturday around 9.30pm, Monaro Police were patrolling the Monaro Hwy near New Line Rd when they noticed a spotlight and went to investigate.
As police got closer to the vehicle, the spotlight was switched off. Police indicated to the driver of the vehicle to stop, but the car evaded police by leaving the roadway.
Police turned around and pursued the grey Suzuki Vitara.
“At that time the occupants of the car used the spotlight to blind police,” a police spokesperson said.
The suspect vehicle travelled along New Line Rd before entering the Monaro Hwy heading towards Bega.
Police continued to follow the car for a short distance before the chase was terminated by a senior police officer for safety reasons.
The Suzuki has cancelled registration allegedly belonging to a Quaama man. Investigations are continuing.
