Fourteen-year-old, Ellery is a Lone Scout and is in the process of attaining her Australian Scout Medallion, the pinnacle award of scouting.
“It’s the highest badge you can get,” Miss Farran said.
She has based her presentation on her involvement in the Man From Snowy River Recruitment March reenactment held in November 2015.
Miss Farran who dressed in a old-fashioned First World War nurse’s uniform was the youngest person to participate in the entire march that walked, where possible, from Delegate to Goulburn and then on to Sydney by train.
“The nurses uniform that I wore in the reenactment march was really uncomfortable, the whole thing was heavy and hard to walk in,” she said. “But it was better than what the boys had to wear.”
“My presentation is mostly photos from last year’s Snowy River Reenactment March along with a video being sent by Dr Brendan Nelson, director of the Australian War Memorial.
The presentation is being attended by members of the community and students from Delegate Public School
Ms Farran said that she had nearly finished her presentation and she had figured out some ideas to get the students involved on the day.
Ms Farran was nine-years-old when she joined the Lone Scouts. Lone Scouts, scout by correspondence and are seen as a normal scout group that has access to all meetings and camps throughout the state.
“I get to go away on camps at least once a month, but the best camp I have ever been on was the Sydney Jamboree where almost 12,000 scouts attended,” she said.
President of the Delegate Progress Association, Penelope Judge said the march of the Men From Snowy River saw the men arrive in Goulburn 100 years ago where they were in training until September 4 when they travelled by train to Sydney and then marched through the streets with the 55th battalion prior to embarkation before being sent to the Western front.
“That is the reason that Ellery has chosen to give her presentation on September 5 at the Delegate School of Arts Hall,” Mrs Judge said.
Miss Farran said that she would like to thank the Delegate Progress Association for all their help putting together the presentation.
