Last week’s Golden Oldie was a photo of the Commercial Hotel in Bombala. John Heritage was publican at the time. The original building was single story weatherboard located on the corner of Maybe and Caveat Streets. The new two storey brick building was completed in 1877. The Commercial Hotel was closed by the Licensee Reduction Board and in 1925 and Mrs Thomas took it over to open a first-class boarding house. The building was also the Bombala Municipal Chambers in the 1950’s and was purchased by the RSL Club in the 1980’s and extended further.
