Bombala Jockey Club spokesperson, Ed Baines said the day would feature a six race program with Bombala’s Dongwha Timbers sponsoring the Bombala Cup.
“The central part of the day’s activities is Fashions on the Field,” Mr Baines said.
“Many people like to take the opportunity to dress up for the occasion,” he said.
Activities get underway around midday to coincide with the metropolitan races and there will be a full field of bookmakers there so punters can wager on local and metropolitan events. There will be a jumping castle for the children and local schools will be manning the barbecue .
“As usual the marquee will be operating with people advised to reserve their seats,” Mr Baines said.
“Seafood platters can also be ordered up to a week prior to the races,” he said.
Marquee reservations can be made with Graham Payten at the Delegate Hotel on 6458 8091 or Bombala’s Anne Tier on 6458 3649.
Mr Baines expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and volunteers. “Without their support the meeting wouldn’t be possible,” he said.
“On behalf of the community, I would especially like to thank Anne Tier who has worked tirelessly for 30 years as secretary of Bombala Jockey Club. “We would like to wish her successor Pia Jackson all the best.”
