Close to a million retired and contributing defined benefit (DB) members are struggling to understand how the 1 July 2017 super changes will affect them. The problems emanate from the 2007 decision to allow DB fund members to also have unlimited access to private superannuation benefits. The 2017 changes reverse that decision by setting an upper limit on super benefits.
