At about 7.30pm on December 25, a 64-year-old man was walking on Valley Walk, Goulburn, when he was hit by a vehicle and pinned against a fence.
Police have been told the driver of the car, a 52-year-old woman, exited the vehicle and assaulted the man, before returning to the car.
A bystander intervened and removed the keys from the ignition.
Emergency services attended and the man was removed from under the car by Police Rescue. He was airlifted to The Canberra Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
A short time later, officers from The Hume Local Area Command found the woman injured inside a home. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Goulburn Base Hospital.
The woman, known to the man, was arrested on Boxing Day and remains in hospital under police guard.
Inquires are continuing.
