Everything at the day of family fun will take place at the town’s showground on Saturday, January 28.
Bombala Australia Day Celebrations Committee secretary Nicole Murphy said one of the main events is the shearing competition, including the NSW Strongwool Championship.
Any shearers will need to register at 8am and about 70-80 people usually enter.
A new feature this year is a truck and heavy equipment display.
There will also be an old engine and machinery display, crafts, market stalls, a raffle as well as a photo and painting competition.
You can enter this competition on the day, but all photos must depict rural Australia while there is no topic for the paintings.
For the young ones, or perhaps those young at heart, there will be face painting, laser tag, two jumping castles and kids’ activities.
Austag will possibly be held at the sports ground and a mini triathlon will start at the Bombala Swimming Pool before a run and a ride.
Register for the triathlon at 8am at the pool to start at 9am. There are four age groups.
Also, the citizen of the year presentations will take place around lunchtime.
The day’s ambassador will be James Chapman, who has competed at the Olympics several times in rowing, including at Athens and London.
Ms Murphy, who has been involved in the celebrations for the eight years, said organising had begun a little late this year.
“But it’s been going well, we haven’t hit any hurdles,” she said.
She said donations were still filtering in.
“We send out letters to all farmers and agricultural businesses around October and then the day is completely funded by the donations we receive from these people,” Ms Murphy said.
“If it wasn’t for the donations we receive it wouldn’t happen, so it’s a big one to the local community and businesses that do put in.”
The Australia Day celebrations will be at the Bombala Showground on January 28 from 8.30am. Entry is a gold coin donation.
