Like much of the state, Saturday was hot with the mercury ranging from a minimum of 17.1 degrees to a maximum of 37.9 degrees.
However, while a lot of the state continued to swelter, Bombala had an abrupt change.
On Sunday, the district saw a maximum of 14.1 degrees and a minimum temperature of 11.7. For most of the day the temperature hovered around 10 degrees with a rainfall of 3.2mm.
The incredible drop of almost 24 degrees was mentioned in the Channel 7 national news weather reports as the most notable among a weekend of heat records being broken.
Not to be outdone, on Monday morning there were reports of the year’s first frosts at Nimmitabel!
According the Weatherzone, temperatures in Bombala are heading back up to around the low 30s later this week before predicted showers over the weekend.
Bombala’s hottest February day on record was February 1, 1968, when the mercury topped out at 40.7C. Meanwhile, Weatherzone notes the coldest February recording was 1.3C in 1985.
Elsewhere in the state, temperature records continued to tumble in Saturday’s unprecedented heatwave.
Sydney's west recorded its hottest ever day, hitting 46.9C at Penrith, eclipsing its previous hottest of 46.5C in January 2013, while Richmond touched the 47C mark.
On Saturday morning, White Cliffs broke the 102-year-old record for highest minimum in NSW, 34.2C at 7am.
