Last week I was lucky enough to be taken on a tour around Errinundra National Park, just over the Victorian Border – past the mining town of Bendoc. Both Rogan Corbett, Cooma LRC member, and Donna Smith from the Cooma Visitors Centre also attended, and we were guided around by Matthew and Michelle Farren and Bronwyn Wright.

We had a great day exploring the rainforest and being shown all sorts of historical remnants of some of the first settlers of the region and natural wonders that have been developing over millions of years, dating back to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
We ventured down to Wilson’s Hut, the Delegate River Diversion Tunnel Picnic Area, the Errinundra Board Walk, and were shown giant trees and learnt about the mining and forestry history of the area. It was really interesting to discover the park and absorb how much natural beauty we have so close to home.
As many of the Delegate population consider the Errinundra area to be part of their region, council is looking at incorporating this area into our tourism campaign with the aim to capture tourists coming or going from Melbourne and the coast, and visiting Bombala and Delegate on their way through. I highly recommend visiting the Park, there is a lookout where you can see the ocean.
There is a lot happening in Bombala on Saturday. The first Rotary Markets are at Railway Park, the Historical Society has a talk and walk along Maybe Street and a talent quest at the RSL Club.
