Sheep producers looking for quality stock came from Victoria, the Riverina, and Southern Tablelands to compete with Monaro buyers on the 16,000 Merino ewes and wethers, and first-cross ewes and wethers listed for sale at the annual Landmark Bombala circuit sale.

Landmark Bombala manager Matt Green said “it was an outstanding result” when reflecting upon the prices paid.
“It was a great presentation of quality breeders sheep which attracted repeat buyers aware of the performance of the stock when they leave the Monaro,” he said.
Mr Green also noted the strong interest in sheep which had been mulesed and Gudair vaccinated.
Among good prices recorded, Ben and Emma Mooney, Haslingden Pastoral Co, Bombala, sold 605 five and half year Merino ewes, January shorn and Inglewood-blood for $126, while Tintagel Pastoral Co, “Landsdowne”, Bombala, sold 456 first-cross ewe lambs, unshorn for $158.
The Bruce family, “Corella”, Bombala, sold a very good line of 375 Merino wether lambs, unshorn and Corella-blood for $96.50, while Charlie Maslin, “Gunningrah”, Bombala, sold 132 first-cross ewes, July/August drop, January shorn, mulesed and Gudair vaccinated for $179.
Mr Maslin also sold 118 first-cross wether lambs for $122.50 along with 190 one and half year Merino ewes, Gunningrah-blood and November shorn for $177.
Lionel Platts, “Allawah”, Bombala, sold 435 Merino ewes, four and half years, Dungaree-blood for $178, while his 107 first-cross ewe lambs sold for $180.
Todd Haybeck, manager, “Kuringai”, Bombala, recieved $85 for his offering of 530 one and half year Merino wethers, Inglewood-blood, mulesed and December, while John and Andy Murdoch, “Undowah”, Bibbenluke, sold 618 first-cross ewe lambs, unshorn and predominately out of scanned twin bearing ewes for $163.
Terry and Leanne Moreing, “Mooresprings”, Bibbenluke, dispersed their first-cross ewes and received $234 for their pen of one and half year ewes, by Retallack rams, January shorn and NSM.
Michael Shannon, “Lowanna”, Cathcart, also offered off-shears first cross ewes, and sold 178 two and half year ewes, NSM for $196.
Buyers from Bega, Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Corowa, Sale, Benalla, Ballarat and Bendigo competed with local Monaro district producers.
