On Wednesday, the management of the health district, including the Bega Valley Health Service (BVHS), said it wanted to reassure all patients on the orthopaedic wait list for the month of March they will be contacted by phone, or the preferred contact method on their admission forms, over the next few days.
BVHS has secured the services of a highly qualified orthopaedic surgeon from Sydney who will take up tenure at SERH on March 8.
“We are committed to continuing to provide locum cover for the next few weeks to ensure that all patients are operated on within clinical priority timeframes,” an LHD spokesperson said.
“The Southern NSW Local Health District understands the concerns of the Bega Valley community around the recent media attention on orthopaedic surgery at South East Regional Hospital.”
For anyone with concerns on their upcoming orthopaedic surgery, contact SERH’s wait list coordinator on 6491 9228.
