Ms Rea who is an active member of her community and the Bombala LRC is calling on locals to provide feedback about the proposed projects through the Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Major Projects Program. Funding for these important projects has been secured through the Stronger Communities Fund.

“I’m hoping people will comment on the proposed projects and give their views. There’s a lot of positives I hope people focus on. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to benefit our region,” Ms Rea said.

“Two of the projects I know people are excited about are the streetscapes in both Bombala and Delegate. It’s also great there’s money available for smaller projects.”

One proposed addition to Bombala’s CBD that’s generating plenty of interest is the proposed construction of new toilet facilities. The facilities would consist of a female toilet including a baby change station, a male toilet including a baby change station and one all access facility.

Locals have until 5pm on Monday, March 27 to provide feedback on the proposed projects for the Bombala region.

Former councillor for nine years and current LRC member, Diane Hampshire, says the money before the region is unprecedented and is urging the community to take advantage of this opportunity.

“The level of money going into these projects hasn’t been seen before,” Ms Hampshire said.

“We need to look ahead at what we want our towns to look like in the next 10 years. The money allocated will better the region. There’s a chance for the community to have their say, and I hope they grab the opportunity with both hands.”

Ms Hampshire has lived in Jindabyne, Cooma, and now Bombala. With a love for the region, she is excited at the projects put forward.

“The streetscape will be fantastic. It’ll improve the ambience of the street,” Ms Hampshire said.
