On arrival all the students walked the course which is two kilometres for the 8/9 and 10 year old’s, three kilometres for the senior students.
After a short warm up session for each age group led by Mrs Forrester it was time to run.
All of our students participated admirably in the extremely hot weather, even dodging the odd snake out on the course.
Well done to the following children from Bombala Public School who were first, second or third placegetters.
8/9 Boys - Liam Strickland second
10 year girls - Aimee Ashton first, Brandy Crotty second
10 year boys - Oliver Stephen second, Jake Ashton third
11 year girls - Heidi Brownlie first, Bridie Hampshire third
12/13 year girls - Annie Green first
12/13 year boys - Brett Ashton second, Harry Lee third
Congratulations to Heidi Brownlie who was the deserving recipient of the Senior Girls Medallion.
The winning school was St Joseph’s. Well done to Bellview who were the Handicap Winners.
Racing in the hot weather was very taxing on the children and as the storm clouds were beginning to threaten after the presentations unfortunately a decision to cancel the ball games was necessary.
Hopefully nobody was too disappointed as we had fun practising at school in the weeks preceeding the Carnival.
Obviously an event like this takes a great deal of organisation to run smoothly and be a success so thanks must go firstly to Mrs Carol Sellers for all her hard work.
A big thank you to all of our parents who kindly volunteered to sit out on the course during the events and to the parents who travelled up to offer support and encouragement to their children.
Also, a big thank you to the children for their outstanding level of participation and their wonderful sportsmanship.
Finally, we cannot overlook the excellent work from the Delegate P and C who kept everyone well fed and the supply of cold drinks ice-blocks were greatly appreciated by all the children.
