The week of festivities kicks off in Cooma with Friday Night Live on March 31. The Cooma Youth Hub hosts the event from 6pm with all welcome to cheer on local youth musical talent.
In Jindabyne one of the highlights of Youth Week will be the Op Shop Fashion Show. This year an interactive fashion show is open to everyone who comes along, dressed up in their amazing op shop fashions. Eight local businesses have thrown their support by the Op Shop Fashion Show with prizes on offer.
The fashion show is being held on Wednesday, April 5 at the Alpine Uniting Church Op Shop. The categories for the show include: Go Glamour, Easter Theme, Famous Person, and Paris Catwalk. This year’s fashion show is being glamorised by Charmed Events, with Westpac Bank providing generous funding for a high class super. The night is being captured by Kerry Beer Photography.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Youth Development Officer, Claire Rogerson, said she’s excited for what Youth Week has in store this year.
“Every year this fashion show gets bigger. This year having such great prizes open to all to come and get on the cat walk means it is going to be too much fun,” Ms Rogerson said.
“Plus who can say no to an amazing free supper put on by the dedicated team from Op Shop By Night.”
Other events during the week-long celebration of youth are designed to get young people and their families active. It’s set to be an ace time in Bombala with a free tennis workshop on Saturday, April 1.
Lake Crackenback is giving all young people under the age of 25 an activate pass to use on Sunday, April 2 and to end youth week, Cooma is hosting a Mess Fest organised by Project O in Centennial Park.
Many of the events are open to all, plus this year a free bus will be running for young people to get to events. Check out the bus timetable attached.
Youth Week 2017 major regional events include: Friday Night Live, Annual Op Shop Fashion Show, Open Day Lake Crackenback, Tennis Workshop, Mess Fest and more…
