It was great to be out in Nimmitabel on Monday for the opening of the Nimmitabel Cemetery Niche Wall. Congratulations to the Nimmitabel Cemetery committee who was successful in being awarded a Southern Phone grant of $7500 to build the wall.
I had the pleasure of attending a ceremony at the Curiosity Rocks in Jindabyne to mark the fantastic news that the rocks have become only the second gazetted Aboriginal landmark in the Snowy Monaro region. It was a special day for the Ngarigo people.
Last week, council staff and I were in Delegate to discuss proposed changes to waste fees that will come into play for the former Bombala Shire on July 1. On Monday night, a community forum was held in Bombala where residents were briefed on the new waste fee structure. Council staff discussed the future of the Bombala Landfill and recycling options.
Finally, expressions of interest are being called to form a tourism committee representing the Bombala/Delegate region. Interested people who are willing to work towards increasing the tourism potential of their region are being asked to form the new committee. To register your interest you can contact council@snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au
