He was the second of six children born to Alma (nee Armstrong) and Jack (Curly) Thoroughgood.
Alma was born in Delegate, and after her marriage to Curly, they moved to Wollongong, then Fairy Meadow, where they raised their children in a loving and very close knit family.
The children, Chris, Buster, Helen, Julie, Ken and Debbie spent many wonderful holidays in Delegate with their grandmother, Daisy Armstrong, and the extended family.
Buster was the villain of the family, always up to mischief, but with his cheeky smile, and endearing personality, he was easily forgiven for any of his harmless transgressions.
In 1983 during a four year relationship, Buster was thrilled when his first child was born, a beautiful daughter named Louise.
Later, in 1990, he married Bronwyn, and they lived in Towradgi, before settling in Dapto where another daughter, Tanae was born in 1996.
Buster worked as a carpenter for the Wollongong Council, for 31 years.
He spent his leisure hours engaging in his favourite hobbies, lawn bowls, fishing, cooking and tending his veggie garden.
Sadly, about 18 months ago, he was diagnosed with liver cancer.
He battled bravely, but the disease finally took him from his loved ones on March 18, 2017.
He will be forever missed by his loving family - wife Bronwyn and daughter Tanae, his eldest daughter Louise and her husband Brett, and his grandchildren Kealey and Zane.
He will also be sadly missed by his remaining siblings and their spouses (brother Ken having passed away in 1999) - Chris and Joanne, Helen and Ray, Julie, and Debbie, and their families, as well as his many friends.
Buster’s funeral was held at Northcliffe Chapel of Hansen and Cole at Kembla Grange on Monday, March 27 at 2pm.
There was a large attendance of family, friends and workmates
