I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the Adaminaby Community Shed on Sunday.
Those who have worked tirelessly to see the shed established have a done a fantastic job in creating an important community space. The men and women of Adaminaby can come together in a shared place that’s set to benefit their social lives.
Youth Week activities ramp up this week and Snowy Monaro Regional Council staff in conjunction with the region’s youth workers have planned a cracking week to celebrate our young people. Events in Cooma, Jindabyne and Bombala have attracted a great response from the region’s youth.
Planned Youth Week events in Cooma, Jindabyne and Bombala have attracted a great response from the region.
The Jindabyne Op Shop Fashion Parade is on tonight (Wednesday, April 5) and Mess Fest in Centennial Park, Cooma on Saturday, plus a range of other activities.
I encourage the Bombala community to head along this afternoon (Wednesday) to a meeting with Bendigo Bank that will discuss the possibility of the bank setting up a branch in town.
This presents an opportunity to bring another business to Bombala. If you would like to see a branch established then tonight’s community meeting is the place to be. It starts at 5.45pm in the Bombala RSL auditorium.
Last week I was joined by council staff at a meeting with parents and the Jindabyne Central School community.
The meeting raised concerns over the re-opening of Kalkite Street, as part of upgrades to Snowy River Avenue and overall, boosting the Jindabyne economy.
Parents were worried the re-opening of the street could cause safety issues for their children, and with child safety paramount it was decided the street would remain closed.
As we head towards Easter, I’d remind locals and visitors to the region, that there’s once again plenty of interesting events taking place across the Snowy Monaro region.
Have an enjoyable and safe week.
