With the Easter holiday period quickly approaching it’s been a very busy week right across the Snowy Monaro region. Last week an exciting announcement was made that $8 million will be allocated for the Country Universities Centres initiative.

The CUC program will be modelled on the successful model of the Snowy Monaro Universities Centre (formerly the Cooma Universities Centre) that delivers quality tertiary education to regional and rural students. Since its formation, the local centre has gone from strength to strength and is a shining light of the region.
On Friday, I had the pleasure of joining our local member, John Barilaro, and Snowy River LRC member John Shumack to meet with community groups successful in securing funding through the Snowy Monaro Community Grants.
Twenty groups are benefiting from this, and on Friday we visited the Berridale CWA, Jindabyne Trail Stewardship and Friends of the Jindabyne Community Garden.
The Berridale CWA will be able to complete upgrades and maintenance to their hall, and continue the fantastic work they do. It was exciting to meet members of the Jindabyne Trail Stewardship who are helping promote Jindabyne as an all year tourist destination.
To finish off the week, we visited the Jindabyne Community Garden who are in the process of making their lovely garden an all access facility. By the way, how good is that view from the garden overlooking Lake Jindabyne.
As we head into the Easter break I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with family and friends.
There will be some changes to kerbside collection during the Easter Holiday period. Bombala, Delegate, Bibbenluke and Cathcart residents should note that waste collection on Easter Monday, April 17 is now on Tuesday, April 18.
As we head into the Easter break I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with family and friends.

Stay safe on the roads and remember double demerit points will be in force. If you’re staying around the region there are many great events being held in all centres.
