The previous week the High Heelers kicked off the league tag season playing a blinder against the Bay at Batemans Bay.
By all accounts the first game of the season started out fairly evenly with both sides defending well, but it wasn’t long before High Heelers captain, Patrice Clear put up the first points.
Good field position and play would see Sue Morgan, Monique Perkins and Keiarna Rodwell all score with the High Heelers 16 to 0 in front at half time.
During the second half the Bay women piled pressure on Bombala forcing some errors into the Heelers game.
Fantastic tagging efforts from Clear, Morey and Crouch kept the opposition at ‘bay’. Standen and Stone were instrumental taking the ball up the field where Abbey Kimber scored.
Stone and Kimber then combined allowing debutante Georgia Jones over the line for her first try. The High Heelers won convincingly 28 to 0.
Player’s player and three points went to Monique Perkins for her consistent defence and classy ball skills in attack.
Last week the High Heelers had to dig deep to come out triumphant over the Bega Chicks. Captain Clear was the first to put points on the board, but five minutes later the Bega chicks hit back with a blistering inside ball scoring under the posts to take the lead 6-4.
An unfortunate injury to the Heelers strike weapon, fullback Keiarna Rodwell forced the Heelers to rearrange their line up.
“The injection of Amy Stone into fullback and Brooke Morey into the centres proved what fantastic depth the High Heelers outfit has, both ladies performing extremely well,” a spokesperson for the club said.
Abbey Kimber eventually scored again by linking up with a flying Katrina Brownlie up the centre of the field and the Heelers took to the sheds 8 to 6 at half time.
The Bega Chicks hit back four minutes into the second half edging in front of the Heelers 12 to 8. Two minutes later Monique Perkins scored locking the score 12 all.
The Heelers eventually found momentum and Abbey Kimber bagged two more tries taking her tally for the day to three. The final score ended 20-12 in the Heelers favour. Players player and three points went to Abbey Kimber.
