Secretary of the Bombala Campdraft, Bree O’Brien said that the weekend was a complete success.
“After 59 runs in the MCH Welding and Engineering Encouragement Draft the winner with 79 points was Michelle Guilker on P Diddy.
“Ian Laurie riding Dandy had a combined score of 175 and was the winner of the Open Campdraft sponsored by Bill and Julie Peadon of Bibbenluke Stock Horses.
“We would like to say a big thank you to Michael and Alice Shannon along with Tiny and Alana Chamberlain for kindly donating the use of their cattle for the Friday drafting,” Ms O’Brien said.
The ACE Equipment Maiden draft with 175 competitors was split in two.
The first Maiden was won by Julie Sutton and Smokey and the second half was won by Bill Peadon on Bibbenluke Hootin Annie with 174 points.
The cattle for the Maiden draft was donated by Tintagel Pastoral and organised by Andrew and Sally Boreham.
Keryn Gardiner on Easy Beat with 180 points was the winner of the ladies draft, sponsored by Bombala IGA with the cattle donated by Brad and Lauren Yelds with Gary and Anne Moreing.
Bombala Campdraft president Phil Collins and Spin won the Talbot Transport & Ray White Emms Mooney Open on 176 points.
“Competitors were then treated to a beautiful dinner on a balmy Bombala night with plenty of yarns around the campfire long into the night,” Ms O’Brien said.
“JD Meats sponsored Juvenile draft with Chelsea Neale taking out the blue ribbon with her aptly named horse Rising Star on a whopping 88 points.
“The Junior draft followed with local girl Carlie French grabbing first place with 75 points on her pony Miss Drover.
“The kids cattle were kindly donated by Bill and Julie Peadon along with Jamie and Kathleen Garnock,” Ms O’Brien said.
The last event on the program was the Sharp Fullgrabe Livestock sponsored Novice draft with about 190 competitors competing for the money. The winner was Joe Maher and Echo Jane with a score of 177.
The Landmark Bombala sponsored Cash Cow was put around in this novice draft for the only time of the weekend, with Matt French of Nimmitabel pocketing some cash for his efforts.
