This week’s Golden Oldie is only 16-years-old and is a photo of Bombala Public School staff taken in 2001, some 16 years ago, so we figure there will be quite a few people out there that recognise the faces of some of the staff of Bombala Public School.
We would love to hear some stories about the staff that anyone can remember.
Last week’s Golden Oldie went pretty much unnoticed with no memories shared on Facebook.
We know some of the names of the people in the photo of Bombala Public School sixth class taken in 1959.
In the back row we have Neville Brotherton, Gordon Kimber, Tony Thornell, Tony White, Gavin Baird, Willie Cruize, John Desmet and Alan Richter.
In the third row is Gordon Grow, Peter Hamiton, Ken? (we are not sure about the Christian name) Brasington, Norbert Graugh ? (maybe), Michael Ingram, Tony Cootes, Colin Elton.,Victor Ingram, Terry Ingram and Robert Hill.
In the second row we don’t know the Christian name of the first person; -?- Scott, Beryl Goodchild, Maryanne Fredricks, Heather Baird, Laraine Wilton, Beverly Bruce and an unknown name.
The front row is Vera Graugh?, Dulci Rapley, Margaret Hite, Wendy Brotherton and Claire Knox.
Now that we know the names of some of the people in last week’s photo, it may prompt some people to remember some of the faces and be able to clarify some of the unknown details for the Historical Society archives.
The Golden Oldie has turned out to be extremely popular with readers, so the Times is on the lookout for more of those fabulous old photos from year’s gone by.
If you have an old favourite photo that maybe of interest to readers and you have no way of sending a copy of it to the Bombala Times, you can take it into Dave at the Bombala Newsagency.
Newsagent Dave Goodyer is also a member of the Bombala & District Historical Society and is an avid collector of historical photos pertaining to the area
Dave will copy your photo and gather any information you may have to go with it.
The information and photo will be added to the Bombala Historical Society’s archives and some of them will be published as a Golden Oldie in the Times.
If Dave is busy, he may have to hang on to your photo for a couple of days, but it is in good hands.
“Tuesday’s is a good day to bring in photos, when it’s a bit quieter,” Dave said.
If you have any information about this week or previous week Golden Oldies, we would love to hear from you.
