Snowy Monaro Regional Council is calling on the community to help shape the region’s future. Council will be running a series of community workshops (Visioning Forums) to guide the development of the Snowy Monaro Community Strategic Plan (CSP). This important document is a 20-year strategic plan, taking in the community’s aspirations to form objectives and strategies designed to enhance the Snowy Monaro region.
The Visioning Forums will serve as an integral part of the CSP’s development, collating the views, comments and insights of community members. Council is endeavouring to undertake one of its largest community consultation projects. The Visioning Forums will allow community members to engage with Council staff, and highlight areas they would like to see Council focus on in the years to come.
Visioning Forums will be launched from next week in Berridale and Jindabyne with additional sessions planned for Cooma, Delegate and Bombala in the following weeks.
Other towns across the Snowy Monaro will be able to take advantage of community drop in sites, allowing a regional approach to developing the CSP.
Underpinning the development of the CSP is the ‘Be the change –Your say Snowy Monaro’ survey. The easy to complete survey is designed for the community to answer questions relating to the Snowy Monaro region. Survey participants will be asked a series of questions that identify why people live where they live, and how Council can help improve the lives of its residents.
Council is asking people to fill out the surveys by registering at its brand new engagement platform, www.yoursaysnowymonaro.com.au The website will complement Council’s existing website, proving an additional platform for the community to engage with Council.
Before heading along to a Visioning Forum or community drop in, people are encouraged to fill in the survey online or either in hardcopy (surveys available at all Council offices) for the chance to go in the running for a number of prizes. You could win $200 taken off your ordinary rates, regional pool passes to win, waste vouchers and Perisher day passes.
Help shape your region’s future now. Visioning Forums are 5.30pm for a 6pm start in Delegate on Thursday, June 1, Delegate School of Arts and Bombala on Tuesday, June 6, RSL Club.
