Condolences are flowing in for well-known Far South Coast resident Maya Mildwater who lost her life in a car crash on Mount Darragh Road on Friday afternoon.
Ms Mildwater died despite the desperate attempts of her partner to keep her alive following the crash on Friday, May 19.
Police said the 67-year-old woman and her partner were driving in separate vehicles when the woman lost control of her car, veered off the road, rolled down a steep embankment and hit a tree near Boben Road around 4pm.
Police said the woman’s partner was travelling some distance behind her and drove upon the crash scene.
He raced to assist, but it was too late.
Ms Mildwater was a member of the Wyndham Hymn Singers and an esteemed and active member of the Far South Coast community.
People gathered at the Wyndham sports grounds on Tuesday, May 23, around 5.30pm to have a drink in her honour.
