Bombala Public and High Schools along with Delegate Public School, Queanbeyan High School, Queanbeyan East Public School, Karabar High School, Braidwood Central School, Adaminaby Public School, Berridale Public School, Bredbo Public School, Cooma North Public School, Cooma Public School, Dalgety Public School, Jerangle Public School, Jindabyne Central School, Monaro High School, and Nimmitabel Public School are all expected to have their wireless connectivity upgraded as part of the NSW budget where $46 million will be invested in the Connecting Country Schools program.
The Member for Monaro, John Barilaro in his announcement last Wednesday said that it was an important investment in the future of children in our region.
“You shouldn’t have to go to school in Sydney to have access to fast and reliable online learning resources and this investment ensures no school community in regional NSW misses out,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The NSW Government is backing our country kids and ensuring they are given every opportunity to succeed at school because they deserve nothing less.
Work on this four-year program will begin at three pilot schools, who will road test the solution and the process of implementation.
The pilot will work in parallel to commission and schedule internet upgrades for very remote schools and work with all included schools to apply for the scheme.
Once a school has been upgraded with the solution, they will be able to apply for additional funds from an innovation fund to maximise the use of the capability within their school and their community.
