Council celebrates NAIDOC Week from July 2 to July 9. We will acknowledge our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, their history and their achievements. The theme for the week is languages matter.
Events are being held at the Raglan Gallery and Cultural Centre, Snowy Region Visitor Centre, Cooma Library, Bundian Way Gallery, Hub Youth Centre in Cooma, and the Pauline Coxon Art Gallery in Berridale. For more information on NAIDOC Week events please see Council’s website.
On Thursday I will join Snowy Monaro Regional Library staff, recently appointed Director of Corporate and Community Services Peter Cannizzaro, and community members in Nimmitabel to unveil the new look Mobile Library. Please come along at 1.30pm to join us in the main street for afternoon tea to launch the Mobile Library’s fresh look. A great service that travels right across the region, the Mobile Library is a wonderful community asset.
On Tuesday night we held our second candidate information session. With sessions following next week in Cooma and the week after in Bombala, there are great opportunities to learn more about becoming a candidate and what’s required of potential councillors. I’m happy to have a chat with you on the night, either in the group forum or individually, if you would like an insight into the demands and pressures of being a local Councillor.
