The highway patrol car collided with a white Toyota Corolla hatch at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Picton Road at Wilton, about 9am.
NSW Ambulance paramedics transported the driver of the Corolla, a woman believed aged in her 40s, to Liverpool Hospital, suffering pelvic injuries.
A female police officer was also taken by road ambulance to Campbelltown Hospital, with minor injuries to her face and chest.
The Mercury understands a set of traffic lights at the intersection were blacked out at the time of the crash, and this may have been a contributor to the collision.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
